Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The visual arts are a place of discovery and learning. The goal of my classes is to engage the students in the creative process and let them know of the much larger art world outside our doors. To enter galleries and know how and why a piece of work was created. We live in an artistic world; my job is to help the students better interpret that.

My students come from a wide variety of diversified backgrounds and live in Oklahoma City.

Although I might sound biased, we truly have some of the greatest kids around. They are excited to learn new techniques and not afraid to voice their opinions on life. My students take great pride in both our school and their community.

My Project

Utilizing graphics technology is of utmost importance in the arts for today's technological world.

Within the arts a proper graphics computer is essential in creating realistic environments.

By utilizing a proper computer the students can better grasp 3d concepts and utilize them with our 3d printer. Printing has become the norm for fabrication in sculpture. It is important for students to feel comfortable with this technology. The only way to fully become comfortable is to have a computer that helps them. Their continuing efforts help them not only learn special aspects of sculpture but computer graphics as well.

My hope is for my students to continue their evolution in this ever technological world. What we need are two actual graphics oriented computers. My hope is to have a full running desktop hooked up to our 3d printer with a second laptop that can be utilized through the room. I will then use the back up drive to cloud save all student work without having to utilize external media. Then I will fully integrate my room into its own wireless environment. Fully integrating these new pieces of technology into our smart board and 3d printer. With our current budget crises there is no possibility of being able to fund a item like this on our own.

This project will enable my students to become fully integrated into the technology within my classroom. My students are inner city children who might never have the possibility of getting a chance like this. It is only through donations that we can afford to offer this opportunity.
