My Project

Many of my students face economic challenges that limit their access to books at home, making school an essential place for developing literacy. The Pizza and Taco series by Stephen Shaskan and the Bird & Squirrel series by James Burks are engaging graphic novels that help struggling readers build fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence through humorous stories and supportive illustrations, which are my goals for these students.

Students will use these books during independent reading.

Each student will receive a bookmark and a plush reading buddy to celebrate reading milestones, reinforcing that reading is both rewarding and enjoyable.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
