Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This motivational quote has become part of my teaching philosophy.

I teach five sections of English courses. My students come from diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds. Some of them are first generation citizens, while others have recently left their home countries and moved to the United States. They love creative projects that utilize technology and that are student driven. For this reason I create inquiry-based units to motivate them to explore complex issues that are relevant to their lives.

My Project

My students will be exploring a variety of texts this year! In order to help them understand the books we read I would like to teach them to annotate with post-its.

Students will be able to follow the text closely by highlighting different literary devices and explain how they contribute to the central themes of a literary work.

In addition students will create an internal dialogue with text were they can predict, question and make connections.

The cleaning supplies and Kleenex will help keep a clean room. With the flue season on the rise it is imperative that we are prepared.
