This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are my joy. The Band and Orchestra programs have made a tremendous difference in many of their lives. Here are some examples:

"Band saved my life.

When nothing and no one else was there for me, music and the people I shared that with were. Playing music in band is my creative output. When I walk into band all my troubles stay outside the band room. I'm a different person when I play music. It feels really nice to share this love of music with people who love it and work equally as hard to make this program the best it can be. Band made me a better person and it taught me to be passionate in what I believe."

"Band and Orchestra have been such a significant aspect of my high school career so far. While helping me continue the pursuit of my passion for music, the DHS Music Program has added additional dimensions of progress both towards my academics and well-being. It's more than just making music together; it's a community where people could bond over something they love–music, and make connections that they never forget."

My Project

The front ensemble is the percussion section that remains stationary on the front sideline of the football field during a marching band show. One of the most important sections in the band, the front ensemble is made up of various instruments including marimbas, xylophones, vibraphones, bells, and auxiliary percussion instruments. The Irish Guard Marching Band's front ensemble worked harder than ever and set record high competition scores in our last full marching season! And now the group is larger than ever. But, this means there aren't enough instruments to go around! Help us purchase a new vibraphone so ALL students can enjoy the joy of marching band!
