My Students

My students are part of a multilingual, Sheltered English Immersion K0 (Preschool) classroom. We are located in a full inclusion school, within the Boston Public Schools. All of my students are three and four years old and are learning English as a second language. Some of my students are learning English as a second language and receiving special education support for a wide range of developmental delays.

The children in my classroom are joyful, motivated, enthusiastic, and excited to learn and explore their world.

My Project

Today I learned that schools will be closed until May 4th. I have set up Google Classroom to help my families support their children in learning remotely and not losing the readiness skills they have worked so hard on developing.

My Google Classroom has been set up to support my students and their families in continuing to learn, through hands-on activities using materials they might have available in their homes, however my students still need access to some paper/pencil activities, particularly my families where English is a second language.

I have spoken with my principal, and we are confident that we will be able to deliver these materials directly to my student's homes during the closure. Please help me in expanding the remote learning opportunities I can provide, by helping me to ensure that every child in my classroom has the basic materials they would need, as I seek to continue providing high-interest learning activities remotely.
