Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are passionate about challenges and learning new things. They are eager to set goals and exceed them. Our school is in the heart of San Antonio and has a unique mix of students from around the city. We work with the 4th-12th grade on a design-focused PBL curriculum that helps students develop skills to identify and solve real-world issues.
My Project
Students love to play games and playing games like chess, checkers, and tic-tac toe help develop skills of strategy, problem-solving, and flexibility. During the pandemic, we have had to scale back our lunchtime activities in the library due to the need to stay apart. Giant games will allow us to take our games outside and keep students far enough apart to be safe.
Students also love to support the events around our city.
We have monthly school family field trips. Students will be able to take these games to outside community events like the San Antonio Book Festival and recruiting events. They can showcase their knowledge and learning to the entire city by teaching others how to play and strategies for success.
