My students need Soft Seats for flexible seating during math and literacy centers. They also need basic school supplies such as markers, colored pencils, and white board markers for classwork and guided reading.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Working in a high-needs school in a low-income community, the time my students spend in my classroom each day serves as a valuable opportunity for me to provide them with a safe, happy, and supportive space for them to learn and grow.
This year I am fortunate enough to be able to loop with the same beautiful children that I got to know, love, and teach back in Kindergarten, as they continue on to 1st Grade, and I am BEYOND excited!
These children bring into our classroom a variety languages, skills, talents, needs, and challenges. They are the kindest, most loving group I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We say "please" and "thank you", we say "sorry" and "I love you", and most importantly, we say "I can help!" and "I can do it!". They are compassionate, they are motivated, they are hard-working. I am so lucky to have a job where I get to watch these beautiful people learn and grow.
My Project
Flexible seating provides students with the opportunity to find a sitting position that is most conducive to their own learning style. Using Soft Seats will allow students to find a comfortable spot in the classroom for independent reading, as well as to comfortably get closer to materials when working in some floor-based centers. In 1st grade, students learn a lot through center rotations for math and literacy; having enough materials such as markers and colored pencils available at each center is important for allowing the students to transition quickly, efficiently, and independently without having to worry about carrying their own materials with them each time.
Working in a low-income community, most of these students do not have access to standard school supplies such as markers, colored pencils, and scissors.
By having these materials readily available to all the learners in my classroom, these students are all ensured an equal opportunity perform and participate in classroom work and tasks. Having enough materials for each individual student will allow them to be more independent in their work without interrupting or wasting learning time by waiting for a peer to finish using a shared material.
