Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have a very diverse group of students this year. My classroom is mostly boys and few girls. They have a wide range of interests from sports to art to music. They are all full of personality and LOVE to talk. They are the most loving and caring group of kids I have ever had. We have a very tight knit classroom family and they all care about each other tremendously.

They love coming to school because of the family environment we have created.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by allowing them to have seating options around the classroom. They are currently sitting in hard chairs for 8 hours a day.

Recent studies show that when students have flexible seating, they are able to pay attention longer.

We love doing Go Noodle during transitions to get our blood flowing and our wiggles out, but having flexible seating would help a lot. Many of the other fourth grade classrooms at our school have flexible seating and the teachers have found that is helpful with students paying attention as well as behavior. Students tend to misbehave more when they have lost focus.
