This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are energetic and enthusiastic learners from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They are encouraged to think critically, problem solve and persevere every day. Through small groups, hands on activities and high expectations my students become passionate about their learning.

Our school is one-of-a-kind; bringing technological opportunities to children in an impoverished community.

Many of our students do not have access to technology at home. Technology integration at the elementary level is so important in our ever-changing world.

Along with the importance of technology is the importance of flexible seating. Allowing my students to choose a seat that works best for them would be very beneficial.

My Project

We are asking for four balance ball chairs and four wobble stools that will provide comfortable seating options in our classroom. Brain research indicates that allowing productive movement increases blood flow to the brain and enhances the learning process. Traditional classroom chairs are rigid and uncomfortable for some students.

The balance ball chairs and wobble stools will provide my students with options to increase engagement and productivity.

Many of my students have difficulty maintaining focus and attention. Providing flexible seating options would make all the difference!

This is just the beginning of our journey toward becoming a flexible classroom! The environment I would like to create for my students will encourage collaboration, increase motivation, and allow for comfort and movement.
