Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The class I work in this year is a Special Education class which consists of children in grades 9- 12th grade who are developmentally delayed. The children are physically challenged, non-verbal, and face many challenges in their everyday lives. For example, the majority are wheelchair-bound, require assistance with eating or have feeding tubes, and need to be diapered.
My goal is to provide them with the best quality education and care they deserve.
In doing this, I will treat them in the way that I would expect my own children/ family members to be treated. The parents send us their most prized possessions and they need to be cared for as such.
Due to the COVID- 19, Pandemic, and Remote Learning my students are in dire need of supplies. These supplies will ensure that their families can assist them as much as possible during this difficult time.
My Project
Creating Art has been one of the best ways my students are able to express themselves. Although they typically receive hand over hand instruction from classroom staff, this will be a great time for parents/ families to create awesome Art memories with their children!
The materials will be used to create projects based on stories, lessons, and the letter/ word and or color of the week.
The paint can also be used as a sensory object for most of our students. We hope to create some really awesome COVID-19 Artwork!
