Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are part of a performing arts charter school. We also have many students that come from low-income homes. My students have diverse learning needs and are in Specially Designed Instruction for math.
Our classroom needs headphones with microphones!
Many of my students need to use speech to text and also the classroom uses programs that the students need to work at their own pace and watch videos or have items read aloud to them. Most of the students cannot afford to buy these for themselves.
My Project
The students in our class use the earbuds with microphones to "level the playing field". They use the talk to text from Google, watch videos independently and use read aloud for long reading passages to help with their comprehension. The earbuds with microphones will be used daily by kids in Special Ed Reading, English, Math and Study Skills.
Special Education students are smart, capable and able to succeed!
Students who struggle with reading comprehension can be successful when it is read aloud. Students that struggle with writing benefit from talk to text. All students benefit when watching videos independently when they are not p=layed out loud.
