Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our scholars will have the opportunity to Get Water Smart during our STEMester days. This is a special time in which we challenge our scholars to think outside the four walls of the school. This year, the 6th graders have been working to become ambassadors of a program called Kids Teaching Flood Resilience. One of our last steps will be to learn how to be Water Smart in our very flood prone community.

The swim caps, goggles, towels and bags will enable all scholars to feel confident and comfortable while participating.

We want to make sure everyone has the same opportunity to learn water safety skills, and we know that sometimes taking the plunge can be worrisome. We want to ensure every scholar can put their worries away and focus on the life saving skills they will be learning.
