My Students
My students are English learners from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of them go home to families that are very busy from working several jobs to make ends meet. Many of them do not have the basic resources that they need at home.
My students are in need of engaging activities to get them up and moving during this quarantine time.
Because many of my students live in apartments, they don't have a lot of space to play in and they don't always have someone to take them to the park.
My Project
My kids are young second grade students with lots of energy. They don't have a backyard in which to play in to get some energy out.
I want to give my kids a chance to move by giving them jump ropes and bean bags.
The jump rope would give the children a focused activity to practice. The bean bags would help give my kids an opportunity to meet one of our PE standards of learning to catch and throw. They can throw the bean bag up in the air and catch it themselves. Neither of these activities take a lot of space nor would the children need to bother a busy sibling or parent to play with them.
