This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How can students excel in a new country with a new language? How can students who come from low socioeconomic homes and from homes that cannot help them with school because of language barriers really succeed? I'll tell you how- setting an expectation and providing students with constant supportive feedback in both Spanish and English. I greet my students at the beginning of the fourth grade school year knowing that they are reading between levels K and 2 and I get the pleasure to watch them grow to new levels! My school is almost 85% ESL Hispanic, then the percentages of ESL other and African American. Currently, my school is rated a D school- but I know my students WANT to learn and to grow in this new country!

My Project

This professional development conference will help to provide me with more knowledge and activities to better reach and engage my students. Being at an ESL D school, often times my students struggle to be engaged in the rigorous lessons that are expected of them in 4th grade.

This conference will provide me with rigorous and engaging activities to engage my English Language Learners and better help them become masters at 4th-grade content!

The engaging activities are led by and motivational speakers are renown authors, established and recognized teachers, and administration professionals! Please help me learn from the best to keep my classroom EXCELLING!
