Everyone deserves to learn in an environment that is welcoming and accommodating for them! Students find that at Terrytown Elementary. We are a title one school that has an 85% ESL Hispanic community. In my 2017-2018 classroom alone had students from 11 different countries! This amazing percentage also has its disadvantages. Most of the students coming into my classroom either do not speak English, are undocumented, are fleeing their home country, are two to three grade levels below reading level, have undiagnosed ADHD/ADD, or has other undiagnosed special needs. This make up in one classroom alone can be challenging but with the help of flexible seating, innovative Ron Clark Academy teaching methods, and calming atmospheres my students have shown an amazing increase in their learning abilities! Please help me be able to further accommodate my classroom for these amazing students!
