My Project

Our school provides a Summer Reading Challenge each year for students who wish to participate. Students are able to earn incentives through reading a summer choice book and participating in a workshop/project co-sponsored by our regional public library.

The 'summer slide' is real and our partnership and collaboration with our public library helps our students stay on top of their reading during the summer when schools are closed.

The book choices for this year are "Eventown," by Corey Ann Haydu; "Free Lunch," by Rex Ogle; and "Hazard," by Frances O'Roark Dowell. These books have been read and approved by myself, public librarians, and our literacy coach. Copies of these books will allow us to place them into students' hands to take home for the summer. Students will be able to return their books to the library for future use upon their return in August.
