Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school garden is reaching its fifteenth anniversary. Every year all three hundred eighth graders plant spring crops like kale, lettuce, onions and potatoes. We also have started a cooking club this school year, with the goal of showing students how to use garden vegetables to make food that is healthy and delicious. In our classrooms, we study food security by reading the Omnivore's Dilemma by M. Pollan.

Making pizza will help bring our school community together while learning to appreciate the versatility and importance of garden vegetables.

Using our garden vegetables as pizza toppings alongside sauce and cheese will definitely help many to create positive experiences around garden food!

Help us celebrate our school garden's 15th birthday with this pizza oven, which will be used for many years to come.
