My Project

I am writing to request that you consider providing games to our students who are struggling with social-emotional issues. I believe this would be a valuable tool in helping to improve the mental health, well-being of our students and use it as an incentive.

Video games have shown to be educational and beneficial to students that promote the 5 core competencies of social emotional problems which includes self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making.

Nintendo Switch games can offer a distraction from stressful situations in the classroom and provide a sense of accomplishment. When progressing through the levels of a game, individuals receive constant feedback about their performance and become aware of their strengths and weaknesses. The games can also help to build social skills, as many of the games require multiple players that increase participation. Even when playing single-player games, adolescents can improve their interpersonal skills by giving their classmates advice. For example, Games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can encourage teamwork among students and healthy social interaction.

Games can help boost self esteem by providing opportunities to succeed and have fun. Furthermore, it can be used to help students with self-regulation. Many of the games involve problem solving and creativity which can be beneficial for students who struggle with their self regulation. The games can also help students practice self-care and relaxation techniques, as some of the games focus on mindfulness and mediation.

In conclusion, providing a Nintendo Switch gaming console to students with social emotional issues would be a great investment for our middle schoolers. The game system can offer self awareness, emotional intelligence and interpersonal relationships. I hope you will consider this request and provide these students with
