Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My 4th grade students are amazing baseball players! I am sure there is a future Manny Ramirez or Derek Jeter in the bunch. They just love to play the game, but our school is located in a very urban area of Southern California where play space is very limited.

My students have very little chance to play sports outside of school. The closest park has been taken over by gangs and there is just too much traffic to play in the street. So our baseball time is usually Friday morning, before it gets too hot. We are learning all the rules and strategies of the game. Just one month ago my students were not even sure where first base was, but now their true potential is showing through.

My students are such amazing athletes that they deserve new equipment. We have a few mitts, but not enough for all the students playing in the field. The one softball we have is starting to come apart, which may be a big problem very soon.

Your donation will allow my students to feel like "real" baseball players. Their enthusiasm is contagious and I am having fun just watching them learn and work as teams. Allowing them to continue learning the game together, with some great equipment will help make 4th grade PE very special.
