Ms. Moore from Mesquite TX is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a green screen, tripod, and the clamps to attach the green screen.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"Tell me and I'll forget. Teach me and I may remember. Involve me and I learn." Benjamin Franklin's quote depicts my philosophy for my science classroom. As a first year teacher, I enjoy watching my hardworking students use problem solving skills and learn through creating real life experiences.
I work in a low socioeconomic school in a suburban district near Dallas, TX.
My students are creative and they love science! When I put on my lab coat, they get excited because they know that hands-on interactive activities are about to happen. What we can accomplish is limited because of the resources available. My students struggle with Earth and Space and I feel the best way to teach the space is to allow virtual opportunities for them to explore and collaborate about the wonders of Earth and space. Many of my students have limited expectations of what they can achieve in the future, but I can see them mentally changing as they participate in labs. Some of them now envision themselves as meteorologists, astronauts and science teachers.
The green screen will be used to create real life weather situations and they will be able to role play a meteorologist to better understand weather symbols, weather vocabulary, seasons and the changes to the Earth. Being able to create a real life experience better solidifies the knowledge and activate prior learning using research based strategies. Being an ATPE member, I realize that when students are engaged they learn. The green screen will also allow real life experiences to help them differentiate between the Earth's surface and the Moon's surface. This technology has endless possibilities for interactive learning in all subjects. Students will be able to create video journals based on their virtual experiences.
Creating a solid understanding about science at the elementary level, creates students that are thinkers and innovators.
My goal with this green screen kit is to push my students in an intellectual corner and make them think their way out.
