Mrs. Monroe from Dallas TX is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the necessary supplies to be successful in their learning environment.

I teach at GWTES. I have the best students a teacher can ask for. My students come from a very low poverty area where they have little or no supplies at all. Sometimes they even come to school hungry. As their teacher, when they enter into my classroom I want to change everything that they feel about themselves and bring joy and success in their lives. I know that if my students had the necessary materials they needed for school and a good breakfast before they start their morning they will be more excited about coming to school to learn. My students love to learn but with the limit amount of money that their parents make, their parents are not able to purchase their supplies. They are embarrassed to come to school and sometimes they walk through the door crying because they know that they are not prepared for school. That's why I decided to take time out of my busy schedule and apply to DonorsChoose and hope that someone out there can help supply the things my students need to have a successful learning environment!
These materials would help make a difference to my students lives by making them feel important and be part of the learning environment because they have everything they need to excel!
My students feel comfortable and they feel a part of a group, when they have everything they need for class.
I want them to feel and know that, as their teacher, I will always be there and make sure that they have everything they need for every subject and for every class.
Each student will have their own supplies in their desk, and those supplies will be available to them throughout my teaching lessons. These materials will help them focus on academic achievement and readiness. The tablets are a great resource for any type of learning. They will help them with adding and subtracting 2-3 digit numbers, sight word games, and reading fluency.
We will also be doing a lot of data collecting and projects dealing with numbers. Composition notebooks will be used as data collecting journals, which the students get to decorate with markers/crayons and personalize them to their liking. As we review our data collected they will highlight the numbers generated with the highlighters and then staple their work together to turn in! My students love receiving feedback on their classwork. Once the data is collected we will use the expo markers to draw a class chart on the board for class discussions. We look forward to receiving our supplies and a successful academic school year.
