My Project

As an itinerant instructor for the Assistive Technology Services department, I support students with individualized education plans, (IEPs) who are nonverbal or have limited speech. Providing these resources will allow students in the classroom to participate in communicate with one another.

Devices will assist individuals in expressing themselves.

Examples include a tablet with communication apps and communication boards. Tailored educational material and games will cater to the child’s learning styles and abilities.

We need books that use simple language and visuals to explain social situations. Visual schedules, charts, and diagrams will assist with understanding routines and tasks. Cards or cues will help nonverbal children communicate their feelings or needs in social settings. Objects that provide sensory stimulation can help children focus and self -regulate while in the classroom settings.

Each child is unique, and the specific supplies needed may vary. With these resources, educators can provide valuable insights and tailor the environment to meet the child’s individual requirements.
