Your donation has already begun making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students, and we are deeply grateful for your kindness and investment in their success.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our students now have access to engaging, hands-on communication tools and learning materials that help them build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections with others. Many of our students have diverse communication needs, and these resources provide them with new opportunities to express themselves, participate in classroom activities, and interact more fully with peers and teachers.\r\n\r\nThe AAC tools and picture-based communication supports are being used daily to help students make choices, request help, share ideas, and actively participate in lessons and routines. These supports are empowering non-verbal and minimally verbal students to have a stronger voice in the classroom while increasing their communication skills and academic engagement.\r\n\r\nThe DJ mixer has become an exciting and motivating part of our sensory and music-based learning activities. Students are practicing turn-taking, following directions, and using communication systems to make requests while exploring rhythm and sound. This interactive experience has encouraged social interaction and joyful self-expression in ways that are truly inspiring to witness.\r\n\r\nThe 3D printer filament has had an incredible impact in our classroom by allowing us to create customized communication materials tailored specifically to our students' needs. We have been able to make communication books, communication tiles such as Show and Go Cards, tactile symbols, adapted classroom supports, and other personalized communication tools that help students express themselves more independently. These materials provide students with accessible ways to communicate wants, needs, ideas, and emotions throughout the school day. Having the ability to create individualized supports has made instruction more meaningful and inclusive while helping students build confidence in their communication abilities. The tactile and visual nature of these resources also supports students with sensory and motor needs, giving them additional ways to access learning and participate successfully in classroom activities.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is helping our students develop essential communication, social, and life skills that will support both their academic growth and personal independence. Most importantly, your support is helping them feel heard, included, and capable.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and helping them thrive. Your kindness has made a lasting impact on our classroom community.","fullyFundedDate":1770996148258,"projectUrl":"project/voices-that-matter-empowering-student-c/10017439/","projectTitle":"Voices That Matter: Empowering Student Communication","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8154709_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y304&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1710701625636","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8154709"},{"teacherId":8115369,"projectId":10043336,"letterContent":"It is with my sincere gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. Receiving the funding for the Chromebook provides a profound impact on the ability to support students who face challenges with word retrieval, spelling, and processing complex instructions. With the integration of assistive technology tools, a Chromebook provides essential literacy supports during assessment and trial periods. Features such as text to speech, word prediction, and speech to text allow students to complete assignments, more independently and accurately, ensuring that they can demonstrate their true potential without being hindered by their disabilities. This technology provides a tailored, adaptive approach that addresses the unique needs of each student, giving them the tools they need to succeed in both formal evaluations and everyday classroom tasks. \r\nIn addition to supporting students during the assessment process, the Chromebook could serve as a versatile tool for trialing, different assistive technologies and literacy applications. As part of the ongoing process of identifying and refining the best tools for each students' needs, a Chromebook allows for the easy implementation of programs like Read&Write for Google, digital word banks, and audiobooks to enhance reading comprehension and written expression. It also gives students the opportunity to practice communication repair strategies, and access visual or auditory supports that help them process complex instructions.
