My Students

My classroom is a positive learning environment where 21 students grow and learn both academically and socially. The students in my classroom come from a variety of backgrounds and households, however this does not stop them from learning and growing. My goal is to provide my students with learning opportunities that will address not only their academic needs, but their social and emotional needs as well. Our school puts a major emphasis on learning through play and it is an important part of our daily schedule.

Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.

Through play, children develop important academic skills, social skills, problem solving skills, and communication skills. Play allows students to build relationships with their peers. Play is fun; but more importantly, play provides students with opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

My Project

The Fun Friday Tubs will eliminate Friday paper and pencil morning work. Students will work together to create and build a variety of structures with each other, using items from the requested manipulativee library. Creating structures from a variety of materials will encourage imagination, team work and problem solving skills. Students will be learning through play and put to use the life skills we have been discussing In our classroom such has being persistent. Persistence involves staying focused on a goal, finding multiple ways to reach your goal and never giving up until you have reached your goal. The project will also gives the students the opportunity to continue developing friendships and communication skills.
