Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first grade classroom is full of energetic, imaginative learners who thrive when given opportunities to explore, create, and play. At this age, play is not just fun—it is essential. It helps students develop social skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity that carry over into all areas of learning.

I am requesting a variety of hands-on toys and materials to create meaningful Fun Friday free play choices in our classroom.

These items include magnetic building sets, interlocking blocks, kinetic sand, dramatic play costumes, and pretend play food. With these resources, students will be able to build, design, role-play, and collaborate with their classmates in exciting and purposeful ways.

During Fun Friday, students will have the opportunity to choose activities that spark their interests. Some may design and construct with magnetic tiles or marble runs, strengthening their STEM skills. Others may engage in imaginative play with dress-up costumes, masks, and pretend food, building language and social skills through storytelling and role-play. Sensory materials like kinetic sand and play dough tools provide a calming, creative outlet.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
