This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach first grade in a Title I school in Washington, D.C. I have 17 wonderfully bright and intelligent first graders who are passionate about learning. My students come from a wide range of backgrounds. I have many English language learners, dual language learners, and international students. Catering to their academic and social needs is enjoyable as an educator because I get to learn more about their background and culture. My students are always grasping to learn more.
My students are curious and creative learners who want to discover the world around them.
I want to show my students the world and have them grow up to be respectful, kind, generous life-long learners who are ambitious and fight for what is right.
My Project
As the school year begins to wrap up, I've been thinking about ways that I can treat my students in the final weeks of school. My students have worked so hard this year and I want them to spend the last few days participating in activities that they will remember fondly.
I want to make the end of the year special for my students.
My students love to play educational games! Because of our school's tight budget, students have not been exposed to many board games. Access to board games will boost motivation and excitement about learning. Additionally, I would like my students to write kind words about each other on shirts that they can keep forever. I want this to be a week that students remember forever.
