Being a Title I school, 100% of my students are economically disadvantaged. Many of my students do not have access to technological resources such as tablets, computers are laptops at home. Additionally, many families do not have an Internet or Wi-fi connection in their home. This makes it very difficult for me, as an educator, to provide families resources that they can use at school as well as at home. In our evolving global community, learners who do not have access to technology that other schools have are falling behind. These students aren't just falling behind academically, but socially as well, as our society places an emphasis on the importance of technology. My students only have access to Internet related applications such as Lexia or ST Math twice a week for 30 minutes. Additionally, our school shares 3 laptop carts among all grade levels (K-5). This isn't feasible in our technology driven society and I am afraid some of my students will fall behind just because they do not have the same resources as other families.
