Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Approximately two-thirds of my students are English Language Learners. Our school qualifies for free and reduced school lunch. Many of their families work in the fields and are hoping that through education and school, their children will have a better life.
Even with these obstacles, my students are eager, capable, and determined learners.
They enjoy being challenged, hands on activities, reading about and having academic conversations about current events, and learning by doing. They may not have the same opportunities as students from wealthier families, but they love learning and love school.
My Project
My students love opportunities that allow them to explore and create. The building and magnets sets will provide opportunities for students to be creative and problem solve while learning at the same time.
These STEM materials are powerful tools that are highly engaging and inspire students to create.
It allows time for out of the box thinking, ingenuity, creativity, and problem solving. These skills are invaluable tools that are sometimes lost. Innovations are the wave of the future and it is important that all students, boys and girls, wealthy or poor, are all included, and given opportunities to practice these skills.
