I have 32 students in my third grade classroom. The majority of my students are English Language Learners, live in multi-family homes, come from poverty, and qualify for free or reduced school lunch. Although, they may be considered to be at a disadvantage when compared to other students from wealthier communities with more resources and opportunities, they love to learn. They are passionate about learning new things, have thoughtful discussions and opinions using academic language, and deserve access to equitable materials that will help bridge the gap.
