Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Second grade students have an enormous amount of structured learning throughout the course of the day. They follow routines, meet expectations, and complete activities focused on specific learning targets. It is my belief that students need to have ownership over their own learning to increase their level of accountability for driving themselves forward in all areas of their education.

If we can give students the reigns, they will lead themselves towards greatness and learning through STEAM activities has been proven to do this exact thing.

Please help me to provide the materials to set up a STEAM component in my classroom. My students currently have Play-Doh and Lego sets that they thoroughly enjoy creating with but there is so much more available.

The blocks, straws, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks and other materials in this project will allow us to have 8 STEAM center activities which will add a creative component to our learning that could increase thoughtful growth of students' thinking and result in more well-rounded learners.
