Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in our classroom involves students taking charge of their learning, creating and smashing through their goals, and always striving to achieve success. So many school are pushing for S.T.E.A.M. activities to prepare students for the future, but we need materials to achieve this.

My students are part of a special program at our school.

The program serves the higher level thinkers at our school...those out-of-the-box, quick thinking, knowledge seekers. These students are in a constant state of revved up learning. They work on problem based learning projects in nearly every aspect of their learning. They are constantly seeking and searching for information. They will definitely be some of the movers and changers of the future. Our school population is over 50% second language learners. They live in a high-poverty area with about half of our students receiving free lunch. We also house several special education programs and have received many rewards for our inclusive practices. We also have students that are "twice exceptional" receiving their education in a special education setting, as well as an accelerated classroom.

My Project

The materials provided through this grant will allow students to think outside of the box and put that thinking to use through their creations. While Goldiblox engineering materials are geared toward girls, the are also greatly enjoyed by the boys, as well. These kits are designed with specific projects in mind and are accompanied by stories that involve these creations, however, the students are also able to use their imaginations and what they know about science, engineering, and math to make their own creations. What can be created from this grant is truly unlimited!

Colleges are recruiting future students for their programs as early as elementary school, especially girls, but also boys.

It would be nearly impossible to go a day without using something that was created using the principles involved in S.T.E.A.M. Your kindness and generosity can help make a huge impact on not only our students' futures, but those of the people that will come in contact with them as they apply the S.T.E.A.M. principles to change the world.
