My Project

This project will be a service project for my school's Diamond and Pearls girls' group. They will be responsible for setting up a food pantry for all the students within our building. The students will create a Google form so that students can "shop" in the food pantry. The students in our group will be responsible for stocking the food pantry, taking inventory, and making a list when we need additional items for the food pantry.

Our students are leading a powerful initiative to combat food insecurity through a school-wide food pantry.

This project is more than just shelves and snacks—it’s a hands-on community service effort driven by compassion, organization, and leadership.

This initiative is led by our Diamonds and Pearls girls’ group, empowering students to serve their peers with dignity and care.

Our community is WES—every student, every family, every staff member. Located in Memphis, TN, our school serves a high percentage of students from low-income households, many of whom face food insecurity daily. By creating a student-run pantry, we’re ensuring that no child goes hungry during the school day or over the weekend.

This project also uplifts our broader neighborhood. Students will extend pantry access to families during school events and collaborate with local organizations to share resources and raise awareness.

To make this pantry functional and sustainable, we’re requesting shelf-stable meals and proteins like tuna pouches and chicken noodle soup to provide nutritious options

These materials will allow students to lead with confidence, ensuring the pantry is clean, accessible, and well-stocked. Every item supports their leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while directly benefiting their peers.
