Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are hardworking, curious, and excited to prepare for careers in healthcare. They participate in hands-on activities, research projects, clinical skill practice, pharmacy simulations, leadership development, and career-readiness experiences. Many of my students balance school with jobs, family responsibilities, athletics, and extracurricular activities. Some arrive at class without having eaten breakfast or may have a long school day before they reach my classroom.

Hunger can make it difficult for students to concentrate, participate, and complete challenging assignments.

Having individually packaged snacks available will provide students with a quick source of energy so they can remain focused and engaged.

These snacks will support students during long class periods, after-school HOSA meetings, certification review sessions, research workdays, and hands-on laboratory activities. A small snack can help students feel cared for, reduce distractions caused by hunger, and allow them to concentrate on developing the knowledge and professional skills needed for future healthcare careers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
