Mrs. Barkley Strassburg Elementary School

Sauk Village, IL Grades 3-5

My Project

I'm so fortunate to be the Student Council Advisor to 17 of the most amazing representatives from 3rd-5th grade that you will ever meet! These students are compassionate, creative, and full of fantastic ideas to help others in their school, community, and world! They stay after school every week to work on their monthly service projects.

Staying an extra hour after a long day of school can be hard on my students, if they don't have a snack to tide them over between lunch and dinner.

Our school has a high population of low-income students, and I don't want to overburden their parents by asking them to send in a snack each week- especially when I'm already asking them to contribute to our service projects.

This project will give my students a snack and drink at our meetings, allowing them to focus on their mission of helping others- and not on how soon they can get home and eat dinner!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
