This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach English to an amazing group of high school students who have been blessed with the opportunity to study in the United States for the first time in their life. These students are filled with excitement and fear; however, they are determined to be successful. Many of these students will be first-generation high school graduates.

A person's desire to become educated should not be hampered by their economic status.

Those who seek an education deserve to be given an opportunity to better themselves. I know that the students in my classroom will become amazing young adults who will have a positive impact on the community. Our adolescents are our future; let's help them build a good one filled with love, respect, and passion to become lifelong learners.

My Project

Our high school students will be taking their ELPAC test to show their progress in learning English. For our English Learners at the high school level, this assessment is of tremendous importance. As we know, most high school students do not eat breakfast, and at times they don’t eat at all at school; hence, the lack of focus.

Donations to this project will ensure that all students have something to eat before they test.

My biggest wish is to see these students showcasing how much they have learned this year despite the pandemic.
