The Degree deodorant has been a quiet but powerful tool for helping students feel confident and comfortable, especially during warm afternoons or after physical activities. Knowing they can freshen up has removed a source of worry and helped them focus more on learning and participating with peers.\r\n\r\nThe snacks—Maruchan ramen cups, Gushers, and Pop-Tarts—have been a huge hit in the classroom. Many of my students face challenges with food insecurity, and having these resources available ensures they don't have to sit through class distracted by hunger. A favorite moment came during a group project when students were working on creating posters for a social skills lesson. After completing their work, they were able to celebrate together with Gushers and Pop-Tarts. Their excitement was contagious—one student even said, \"This feels like a party for finishing our work!\" It turned into a fun, rewarding classroom memory.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, the reaction was priceless. Students cheered when they saw the variety pack of Pop-Tarts and immediately started talking about which flavors they hoped to get. For many of them, these small treats feel like a big reward, and they've motivated students to push through tasks they might otherwise avoid.\r\n\r\nBy supporting this project, you've helped remove barriers and create moments of joy in our classroom. The next steps for our students include a life skills lesson where they'll practice making simple choices, such as selecting a snack, reading nutrition labels, and discussing how food fuels their body. These resources will not only continue to meet immediate needs but also tie directly into lessons that prepare them for independence and success beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students dignity, energy, and joy. The ORICO Charging Station has become a hub in our classroom, allowing multiple devices to be charged and ready for use during lessons. This simple but powerful addition means that students no longer have to wait their turn or lose focus while a device charges—they can stay fully engaged in learning activities. The spinning pen and marker organizer, paired with the fresh set of EXPO markers and hundreds of pre-sharpened pencils, has created an accessible, clutter-free workspace where students can easily grab the tools they need. Our binders have given us a structured way to store work, track progress, and revisit lessons, providing students with a sense of ownership and independence over their materials.\r\n\r\nOne specific project that really highlighted the impact of these supplies was our recent group writing lesson. Students collaborated to create posters on classroom expectations, using the binders to organize drafts, the pencils for note-taking, and the markers to design final products on whiteboards. They were excited to rotate through the supplies—some drawing, some writing, and some presenting—and the tools made it easy for everyone to contribute meaningfully.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the large pack of pencils and the organized supplies, their faces lit up. Several students immediately said things like, \"Now I won't have to wait for a pencil,\" or \"I get my own marker!\" For students who often face barriers in even the smallest classroom tasks, these resources gave them confidence and the ability to work independently without frustration.\r\n\r\nBy supporting this project, you've truly gotten a peek into our classroom and helped create a smoother, more inclusive learning environment. Next, our students will be working on a research and presentation project where they'll gather information, store it in their binders, draft their reports in writing, and then present their findings using whiteboards. These resources will continue to play a central role, ensuring that every student—regardless of ability—has what they need to succeed and shine.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create these powerful learning moments. Your generosity has made a real difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1746786006155,"projectUrl":"project/partnering-with-a-second-year-educator/9295389/","projectTitle":"Partnering with a Second-Year Educator","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Marshall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9510312_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1713215450563","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/marshallm"},{"teacherId":9510312,"projectId":9087743,"letterContent":"My students and I have been using the Celestron binoculars and Barska telescope as part of our science unit on space and exploration. We started with simple sky-watching projects, learning to locate the moon's craters and bright stars. The binoculars helped students practice observation skills in a very accessible way, while the telescope allowed us to zoom in on details they had never seen before. One of the most memorable moments was when a student spotted the rings of Saturn for the first time and excitedly shouted, \"I see it! I really see it!\" That sense of wonder made the entire classroom light up. The excitement was immediate. Many of my students rushed to line up and take turns with the binoculars, amazed at how close the objects in the sky appeared. When they saw the telescope set up for the first time, a few students couldn't stop talking about how \"big and cool\" it looked. For students who sometimes struggle to stay engaged, these resources sparked genuine curiosity and focus. The next step is building a project around charting and journaling celestial observations. Each student will keep a sky journal, recording what they see through the binoculars and telescope, drawing sketches, and comparing changes over time. We'll also tie this into reading and writing practice, with students writing short reflections about their experiences. Long term, we'll connect our observations to larger lessons on the solar system, constellations, and space exploration. These tools make abstract science concepts feel real, tangible, and exciting — and that's a gift that keeps building every day.","fullyFundedDate":1739366797327,"projectUrl":"project/special-education-wants-to-see-the-stars/9087743/","projectTitle":"Special Education Wants to See the Stars","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Marshall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9510312_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1713215450563","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/marshallm"},{"teacherId":9510312,"projectId":8909535,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our special needs students have taken an active role in making our school more environmentally friendly through our new recycling program! The arrival of blue trash bins, large recycling totes, gloves, trash bags, and trash pickers has empowered them to engage in hands-on learning while developing valuable life skills. One of the most exciting moments was watching my students' faces light up as they unpacked the materials, eager to get started. They immediately wanted to learn how to sort recyclables, use the pickers to collect litter, and take charge of keeping their school clean. This project has given them a sense of responsibility and teamwork, and it has been truly inspiring to see them embrace this new initiative with enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nSince launching the program, my students have been sorting and collecting recyclables daily, taking turns using the tools to keep our school grounds clean. One memorable moment was when a student, who is usually shy, took the lead in explaining to others which items could be recycled—showing confidence and leadership that we hadn't seen before. This project has not only taught them about environmental responsibility but also helped them practice communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. The next step in our journey is expanding our efforts by educating other students and staff about proper recycling practices and finding creative ways to reuse materials in classroom projects.
