From Page to Screen: Lights, Camera, Create!

Help me give my students a shared set of video cameras to create short films, documentaries, and visual adaptations of literature.

My Project

My students must have opportunities to connect literature and film in ways that make learning meaningful and engaging. Education is changing every day, and students are surrounded by digital media, video, and storytelling. My 35 Literature & Film students are naturally interested in creating and consuming visual stories, and I want to use that interest to strengthen their reading, writing, communication, and critical-thinking skills.

Students learn best when they have opportunities to become creators, not just consumers, of the media they watch.

Having classroom cameras will allow my students to bring literature to life by creating short films, documentaries, interviews, scenes, and visual adaptations of the stories they study.

Our classroom does not currently have enough cameras for students to work collaboratively on film projects. With these cameras, students will be able to practice real-world filmmaking skills while working together to plan, record, direct, and produce their own projects. These experiences will help students build confidence, creativity, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of both literature and film.

My students are excited to tell their own stories. These cameras will give them the opportunity to see themselves as writers, filmmakers, and creators while making learning fun and relevant.
