From Overwhelmed to Empowered: Classroom Break Boxes Needed

Help me give my students tools and calming resources that help them regulate emotions, refocus, and feel supported so they can succeed in learning.

My Project

Our campus is seeking support to provide Break Boxes for each classroom—intentional, student-centered tools designed to promote self-regulation, emotional well-being, and positive behavior.

Each classroom will have a designated “Break Spot”, a safe and calming space where students can go when they feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or need a brief mental reset.

These spaces help students return to learning more focused and emotionally regulated.

The Break Boxes will include:

Fidget tools to support focus and sensory needs

Sensory items (such as tiles or calming objects)

Visual supports and calming strategy cards

Mini posters to guide breathing and emotional regulation techniques.

These resources will be introduced and modeled during counselor-led lessons, ensuring students understand how to use them effectively.

By equipping every classroom with these tools, we are proactively supporting students’ emotional health, reducing disruptions, and creating a more supportive learning environment for all.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
