Our district learning programs give students opportunities to practice early reading and language skills by listening to letter sounds, words, directions, and stories and then responding using their own voices. With quality headphones and built-in microphones, students can hear clearly, stay focused, and interact with these programs independently. Instead of technology simply being something they watch, it has become a tool they can actively use to listen, speak, practice, and learn.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting things for our students is having headphones that truly work for them! They love putting them on, hearing their lessons clearly, and especially using the microphone to record their voices and respond. This has been particularly meaningful for our dual language students as they develop their language skills in both English and Spanish. We have seen students become more confident and willing to participate because they can work at their own pace, listen again when needed, and practice without worrying about everyone around them hearing.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our youngest learners and believing that every child's voice deserves to be heard. These books have become meaningful tools in my counseling program and have given my students new ways to understand, express, and talk about their emotions. As an elementary school counselor, I work with students who are learning how to navigate big feelings, friendships, conflict, self-esteem, grief, anxiety, and so many other experiences. Having books that reflect those experiences helps students realize that they are not alone in what they are feeling.\r\n\r\nI have been able to incorporate these books into classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling sessions. Stories create a safe and relatable way to introduce conversations that can sometimes be difficult for children to begin on their own. Students are able to connect with the characters, identify emotions, practice coping strategies, and discuss healthier ways to respond to challenging situations. I especially love seeing the moment when a student recognizes themselves in a story and realizes, \"I've felt that way too!\"\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our counseling library is more than a collection of books—it is another resource for helping our students build emotional vocabulary, coping skills, empathy, confidence, and a stronger sense of belonging. Thanks to this project, **every classroom on our campus now has its own Break Box**, giving students easy access to calming tools and strategies right when they need them.\r\n\r\nThese boxes have helped students learn that it is okay to recognize when they are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, or simply in need of a moment to reset. Instead of having to leave the classroom, students can use the tools in their Break Box to calm their bodies, regulate their emotions, and prepare themselves to return to learning.\r\n\r\nTeachers now have an additional resource to support students in the moment, and students are learning valuable skills they can continue to use as they grow. Because I received two flexible seats, they became a highly motivating reward that students can earn. The excitement was immediate, and students love using them. My students were eager to try them very proud when they earned the opportunity. The flexible bands placed on chairs have been even more impactful. These were given to students who struggle most with staying seated and focused, and they have made a noticeable difference. The bands allow students to move their feet and release energy quietly, helping them stay engaged without distracting others.\r\n\r\nSince introducing these resources, I've seen improved attention, fewer disruptions, and greater confidence in students who previously found sitting still challenging. Many students now request the bands because they help them concentrate during lessons. Moving forward, we will continue using the flexible seats as a motivator and the bands as a support during independent work and small-group instruction.
