Thanks to this project, **every classroom on our campus now has its own Break Box**, giving students easy access to calming tools and strategies right when they need them.\r\n\r\nThese boxes have helped students learn that it is okay to recognize when they are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, or simply in need of a moment to reset. Instead of having to leave the classroom, students can use the tools in their Break Box to calm their bodies, regulate their emotions, and prepare themselves to return to learning.\r\n\r\nTeachers now have an additional resource to support students in the moment, and students are learning valuable skills they can continue to use as they grow. My students were eager to try them very proud when they earned the opportunity. The flexible bands placed on chairs have been even more impactful. These were given to students who struggle most with staying seated and focused, and they have made a noticeable difference. The bands allow students to move their feet and release energy quietly, helping them stay engaged without distracting others.\r\n\r\nSince introducing these resources, I've seen improved attention, fewer disruptions, and greater confidence in students who previously found sitting still challenging. Many students now request the bands because they help them concentrate during lessons. Moving forward, we will continue using the flexible seats as a motivator and the bands as a support during independent work and small-group instruction.
