From Ordinary Space to Extraordinary Stage With Pipe and Drape

Help me give my students a pipe & drape system to transform any space into a real stage.

My Project

In our school, students already have access to a stage, but what they are missing is a true backstage space. Without wings or offstage areas, students have nowhere to wait during scene changes, store props, or prepare for entrances without being seen by the audience. A pipe and drape system with a dedicated storage cart will allow us to create a flexible, professional backstage area wherever performances take place. This will improve the flow of productions, reduce distractions during shows, and help students experience how real theater spaces are organized behind the scenes.

This project will make a lasting difference by giving students the opportunity to learn and perform in a more authentic theatrical environment that includes both stage and backstage spaces.

Our goal is to create a functional and flexible system that supports smooth transitions, organized performances, and confident student actors. The pipe and drape will quickly transform open spaces into structured performance areas, while the storage cart will ensure the system is safely and neatly stored when not in use, making setup and cleanup efficient and sustainable for future productions.

My students are creative, hardworking, and eager to grow as performers and collaborators. Many are experiencing theater for the first time, and they approach every rehearsal with excitement and determination. By providing them with a backstage space, we are teaching not only performance skills, but also professionalism, responsibility, and teamwork—skills that will serve them far beyond the stage.
