Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies, I am excited to begin my first year teaching 2nd grade in the upcoming school year. As I prepare for this transition into elementary education, I want to create a classroom environment that feels welcoming, organized, and engaging for my students from day one. My future students will come into the classroom with different learning styles and needs, and I want to provide flexible learning opportunities that help every child feel comfortable, supported, and excited to learn.

The materials in this project will help create a flexible and student-centered classroom where learning can happen in many different ways.

The classroom rug, floor cushions, and lap desks will provide flexible seating options that allow students to work comfortably during reading groups, partner activities, and independent learning time. Chair storage pockets will help students stay organized and keep important materials easily accessible throughout the day. Pencils, clipboards, and classroom supplies will support daily instruction, hands-on activities, writing practice, and small group learning. Posters will help create a colorful and encouraging classroom environment while reinforcing important academic skills and positive classroom expectations.

My goal is to build a classroom where students feel safe, confident, and motivated to learn each day. As I transition from middle school to 2nd grade, these materials will help me create a positive and engaging learning space where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the school year.
