This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Working at our center which is located in a Title I housing projects in Greensboro, NC is an eye opening experience. The children come to school unwashed, not groomed, and hunger with angry attitudes because of their conditions. I am working at a center where we are expected to provide the students computer time with no computers. The dinosaur computer in the room is huge, connected to a mouse and is hard for the students to manipulate. They are used to working with their parents cell phones when playing computer games but at school they get to experience the old time computer that they can’t get to work. I would like to submit a tablet project to DonorsChoose.org to aide in the development of my classes technically skills as well as their academic skills.

My Project

Currently, my class has an ancient desktop computer with the long tail mouse attached to it. My students have difficulty navigating the mouse to play computer games. It would be awesome to have some Amazon - Fire Kids tablets for small group lessons for them to learn their ABC’s and 1,2,3’s. I work in a low income project school and access to hands on technology would aids in their concrete learning that follows them through out life.
