Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My K-pop Club has quickly grown to about 40 students, with more students asking to join each week! We meet twice a week before school to listen to music, create together, and spend time with others who share the same interests. Students have told me they joined because they wanted to “meet others who have the same interest as them” and to “feel connected.”

Creating and trading freebies is a special part of K-pop fan culture.

With these supplies, students will make buttons, friendship bracelets, keychains, and magnets to trade with one another. They will also use their creativity to make gifts for teachers, counselors, and administrators throughout our school.

More than anything, I want K-pop Club to be a place where students can walk through the door knowing they have found their people—a place to create, build friendships, and feel like they belong.
