My Project

We are seeking support to create an outdoor literacy lab for 163 diverse K-5 learners. Out of our 163 students, I work closely with about 60 of them for intensive reading intervention in small group settings. These students work incredibly hard to overcome literacy challenges, and providing them with a change of scenery can make a world of difference. Being able to unplug from the florescent lights, Chromebooks, and a stuffy classroom to learn in the fresh air and sunshine would give these students a boost in energy, confidence, and concentration.

Studies show that outdoor learning boosts concentration, creativity, and overall well-being in elementary students.

To make this space functional, we are asking for 4 durable and weather resistant picnic tables. These tables will serve as our essential outdoor workstations, providing a stable and comfortable place for students to collaborate, write, and dive into learning.
