A 3D printer is useless without the filament to go in it. It is the fuel for making the products that our 3D printer makes. Having a supply of many different colors makes our printer more versatile and appealing. The many colors brings our creations to life. We are learning many things with our 3D printer and filament. The kids learn one of the earliest steps in manufacturing. They are able to see their creation and ideas come to life. Since we have only had our products a few weeks, we have barely scratched the surface of what we will be able to do. Our plans are to have their ideas go from paper to a CAD drawing to a 3D model prototype in a relatively short period of time. Every student will be exposed to the printer at some pont, The kids who are visual learners seem to enjoy it the most. Again, we really appreciate the contributions you made to our STEM program. As you know we purchased a 3D printer with the funds. We all use technology everyday, but seeing a 3D printer in action and watching the students see it in action is very rewarding. The way it helps kids learn is they get to see the early steps in manufacturing. The printer makes a prototype of a part in usually less than an hour. Where before, it could take weeks to get a prototype. Since we have only had it for a few weeks we have barely scratched the surface of what we can do with it. Our future plans are to have students draw things in CAD and then have them 3D print their CAD drawing.
