Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are 3rd graders who are learning how to love reading. My group was greatly affected by COVID as they were sent home during their Kindergarten year of March 2020. They come to school daily eager to learn unfortunately, many of them have not been exposed enough to books. We do read alouds daily and they enjoy being read to. Slowly but surely they are starting to get curious about books and wanting to read more. I love that they are now interested in reading. Even with our various backgrounds, they all have two things in common: 1) They want to learn and are eager and 2) I fully support and believe in my students. We are in need of new journals, highlighters, markers and pencils to help us write about our reading and story map together when we have circle time.

With these new books and materials you will be helping us update our classroom library while providing a variety of books for my students to read as they develop and grow their reading abilities and interest.

Every book placed in my library is treated with care. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have been observing what titles they are reading. I also asked them what types of books would they like to see in our library. By supporting my project I will be able to give my students new books to choose from which will help me continue to foster the love and enjoyment of reading.
