Help me give my students silent reading books that would pique their interests! It is incredibly hard to get students to enjoy reading, therefore having books in the class that they would find appealing is so important!
As I entered into the education field, I had no idea that I would be teaching in such a strange and confusing time. Just like I had to adjust, students around the globe had to adjust to a new way of learning online. Now that we are back in the classroom, we are working harder than ever.
My students continue to amaze me, even in challenging times like we are in now.
Teaching ninth-grade English has been a blessing. These students are dealing with the challenges of their first year of high school while trying to figure out who they are as individuals. I love to encourage their creativity and curiosity both inside and outside of the classroom. Each and every day, these kids put a smile on my face!
My Project
We see students reading less and less as the years go on, therefore it is more important than ever to have books on hand that teenagers find interesting! I have been doing my best to keep my classroom library growing, but as the year goes on it has been getting hard to keep their interest in free reading.
Reading for enjoyment can have the greatest impact on growing minds.
I want to be the one to show my students that reading does not always have to be "boring" or "just because it is required." They simply just need to know how to choose books that appeal to who they are as individuals!
