They immediately started pointing out their favorites—Pop-Tarts, Cheez-Its, and the new board games—and brainstorming when we could use them. Having these resources in the classroom has already created a sense of anticipation and joy around our homeroom time. One memorable moment was when we first brought out Hues and Cues; students who don't normally talk much in class jumped in enthusiastically, laughing and connecting with their classmates.\r\n\r\nThese resources are doing exactly what we hoped: giving students daily incentives to be present and opportunities to bond with each other. The snacks are simple but powerful—just the right encouragement to participate or a small way to brighten a student's day. The games are helping us build a culture where students feel comfortable, welcomed, and excited to come together.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to make these resources a regular part of homeroom. Whether it's celebrating milestones, rewarding participation, or just taking a moment to connect as a community, these snacks and games are helping us create the strong, positive classroom culture that homeroom is meant to foster. Thank you for giving my students something to look forward to every day.","fullyFundedDate":1744648325119,"projectUrl":"project/homeroom-community-building-supplies/9246864/","projectTitle":"Homeroom Community Building Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lampert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9817839"},{"teacherId":3141822,"projectId":9372593,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in donating to my classroom project! The bean bags and pillows have been the biggest hit! Students frequently use them during individual check-ins, sensory breaks, or as a safe place to regroup before returning to class. One student who typically struggles to stay in class was able to take a short break in a bean bag, focus on deep breathing, and return to class much more regulated and ready to learn. These moments are small but incredibly meaningful. When students first walked into the updated space, their faces lit up. Many of them immediately went for the bean bags and pillows and just melted into them. One student exclaimed, \"This is exactly what I needed today!\" It was clear from the start that these items were going to make a real difference in their ability to manage stress and recharge during the school day. Right now, we're focusing on building self-regulation and coping skills. Students are learning to recognize their stress responses and choose tools from the sensory room that help them feel better—whether that's a cozy corner with pillows, a calming fidget, or just a quiet space to breathe. As they continue practicing these skills, they're becoming more confident in managing their emotions and advocating for what they need.","fullyFundedDate":1723468095071,"projectUrl":"project/relax-and-thrive-our-calming-room-for-s/8558631/","projectTitle":"Relax and Thrive: Our Calming Room for Student Well-Being","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Janessa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9521126"},{"teacherId":3141822,"projectId":9387871,"letterContent":"Thank you for your contribution to my classroom. Your generous donations made it possible to provide meaningful decorations and tasty snacks that transformed the event into something truly special for our AVID seniors. Many of our AVID students are the first in their families to attend college, and your contribution allowed us to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments with the honor they deserve. The bright banners, festive balloons, and cheerful atmosphere helped make the day feel like a milestone they will never forget.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, our students were able to gather in a welcoming, joyful space where they proudly announced their college commitments. For many of them, this was the first time they were publicly recognized for their academic achievements, and the celebration gave them confidence that their dreams are not only valid but also worth celebrating. \r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful that you chose to invest in these students' futures. Your support not only honored their accomplishments in the moment but also reminded them that there are people beyond our school walls who believe in them. The excitement was palpable as they unpacked their kits, eager to dive in. \r\n\r\nSo far, we've used these kits for both labs and assessments, and we plan to incorporate them into the end-of-year project.
