This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are lacking confidence in their reading ability. I want to give them access to books at their reading level to foster a lifelong love of reading. Many students are excited to choose books off the library shelf because they are colorful or look interesting yet become discouraged once they open the pages, only to find words they do not know how to decode yet. Having leveled books allows students to grow as readers, be excited and find success which intern supports their love of books and reading for leisure.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
