My classroom is a self-contained kindergarten class. My student population consists of students with an autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities.
Working with this population can be difficult, but it is super rewarding within this environment.
I teach the most interesting, caring, well-behaved scholars ever. My school is a student-centered environment filled with world-class teachers. As a team, we are continuously brainstorming ways to evolve as educators, and we are also advocates for family involvement in the learning process.
Do you remember when you would go to kindergarten in the morning and get to go home at lunchtime? The days of half-day kindergarten are over. Kindergartners now attend school all day. Kindergartners face the challenge of staying engaged and on-task during a long, full school day. It is very difficult to stay focused on learning when you have an empty stomach.
We are requesting snacks such as chips, goldfish, Cheez Its, and cookies that will provide many nutrients and minerals that a growing kindergartner needs between meals.
Snacks will help my students' brains and bodies get the extra boost that they need to do their very best in our classroom. The candy will be used as a reward for the students after they complete their work or help a friend out! Please help us get snacks for the classroom!
